Free Health Check Event
Are you growing more concerned for the health and well-being of the residents you care for?
The health inequalities of adults in care, especially people with a disability, are well known but with few services available to help it’s hard to combat this trend.
Our trainers are passionate about improving the health and well-being of this underrepresented population within the fitness industry.
As part of our 10 year celebrations we’re offering a 2 hour health check event to care homes, supported living and respite service providers in Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire. This free event is aimed at providing residents and staff with valuable knowledge on leading healthier lifestyles.
What is Included in the Event?
Every service manager will have a number of people they are most concerned about when it comes to weight, physical activity or health and well-being generally. In this event we’ll sit down with these residents and their key worker and perform some basic measurements and offer advice on what could be done to help. The tests include:
- Height, Weight and BMI- We use this information to advise a target for weight loss or weight gain using SMART targets.
- BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate)- This is the number of calories you as an individual burn per day. We then recommend total calorie intake based on the target weight.
- Blood Pressure- This is a key indicator of cardiovascular health. Where high, we refer the person to a GP with potential hypertension.
- Opportunity to discuss specific challenges or barriers- We then discuss any specific concerns and suggest potential solutions to overcome these barriers.
